And 90% of the time Liev Schreiber gets applause when he enters as Fr. Flynn?

and Liev Schreiber knows.

He’s the only one who know what Father Flynn is thinking, and what he has done. I don’t think John Patrick Shanley even knows Fr. Flynn’s thoughts or actions! those lines can definitely go both ways.

The rules of great acting dictate that Liev Schreiber know. He must have a fully fleshed out back story in his head. Every moment onstage is informed by that backstory.

If that backstory includes abuse of a child of any kind, or even thoughts of abuse, how does it feel to get applause when you step out all frocked up?
