Of the 100+ different theater spaces I have worked in, and the 1000+ different theater spaces I have seen live performances in I choose the local public high school’s basement choir room for this decade’s life-shifting production of Our Town.

This photo is from Taft, the private boarding school, in the 1980’s. I said public school, not private school.
Super well-funded public schools...still put the choir rooms in the basement, not in the room with the great acoustics. The padded room that you can reappropriate for anything that doesn't want natural light....like praying facing the sun? hmmm....I wonder who thought that windowless room should be the prayer room. Only theater nerds dwell in caves! The rest of us need sun several times a day, for prayers...or just for staying alive.

(Broadway’s Circle in the Square would work. We can transfer it there after this run is over and the lead’s volleyball season commitments are done.)
