Couldn’t talk. He was at work.

unbeknownst to me, This is what the director looked like when I was texting with him. This card costume must come with pockets.

The director of this week’s SOLD OUT Our Town in Pomeroy, Ohio said that he made the stage a little large (2 ladders take up a lot of floor space), so there was “strictly limited seating”. Saturday sold out as of last week, Friday yesterday, and Sunday this morning. So, if you want to see Our Town…you will have to sneak in….maybe pose as the director. This is what he looks like on a work day:

I asked if he used a lot of furniture and/or hand props; or did he go simple?

“No props.”

We are trying to stay as close to tradition as possible.

Our set is very minimal. It’s more about the story and the people. So I didn’t want the set to distract but needed to create a backstage type area.

Sometimes when people say, ‘no props’ they mean that they cut the lines that involve stringing beans, or they didn’t dress the set with table clothes, etc. From the rehearsal photos on Facebook, ‘no props’ seems to mean no props.

Mrs. Gibbs feeds imaginary chickens imaginary corn, Mrs. Gibbs receives an imaginary jug of milk, Mr. Gibbs sips imaginary cup of coffee.
