The original dresses from the Broadway run of Bright Star went missing. Or they were danced to smithereens.

That dress and a few replicas used to be sitting on a hanger in a corner of Musical Theater West’s costume storage. When the Broadway run closed and it was clear the tour would be short, MTW bought the set and the costumes from the original show. For $2,000, a school can rent this whole costume package now - minus this dress. sad sigh.



I bet I could bargain that $2,000 figure down. As I understand it, the costume sketches or extra fabric do not come with that rental. If Musical Theater West just bought the costumes, but not the designs, and you wanted the real originals; I would call Jane Greenwood, the costume designer.
