This essay was due to come out a week ago…it started like this:
Tonight I get to sit onstage with the director and co-writer of Lights Out: Nat King Cole, Patricia McGregor, who is also the Artistic Director of the New York Theater Workshop;
and!
Dr. Joyce Brown, the outgoing president of FIT.
Do I get to ask Dr. Brown a few questions? If I don’t, from my position onstage, I will hop off and jump into an audience seat. I have one pressing question that needs an answer:
How do we get our young clothing geniuses to choose design as a profession?
