School Theater is Profitable
Keep $5K for your budget; call everything else PROFIT
As far as theater buildings go, the BC High one was nice, but it wasn’t crazy. It seemed appropriate for the purpose - a 250 seat house, a medium-sized lighting grid with one catwalk and a variety of speakers. Actually, it was probably perfect for a school. That size of an audience is significant, but not overwhelming - enough for a laugh to get contagious and for a song to fill the room, but not so many people that you can’t connect to the folks in the back, and the audience feels full even if you only get 100 people in the door.
Just like I don’t think anyone should spend resources on building a turntable on stage, I am sure there are much more exciting and effective places to spend the hundreds of thousands for a new theater…but! if you already have one like this I am very happy for you.
