Looking at photographs from the 1970’s is like looking at the Sistine Chapel before the restoration:
Centuries of smoke and sweat will really shrink a color palette. That cleaning was happening during my childhood. It was big news the in small-city coal country Catholic community that I grew up in. I think it was my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Libhart that remarked with astonishment, amusement and annoyance, that Michelangelo had the same taste in fashion as her 10 year old students - neon.
