Intermediate level, not novice or newbie, because there are no bathroom breaks.
Like, no bathroom breaks, for nobody.
Sure, the actors leave our view for no less than 3 well advertised trips to the “CR…the comfort room…the toilet! I have to pee!”.
But if you saw this production in Boston maybe you noticed that this set is a box that is hanging over the stage. You can see the strings in the photo below. If you squint you can make out the legs under the stage and see the backdrop through them. It is the same on the sides. A floating shoebox.
So, when the actors say they are taking one, two, then 3 pee breaks - they don’t get to do a quick run to an actual bathroom. They exit, probably stay in character and even motion through washing their hands as the sound cue plays, and then walk back out onstage. Bladder capacity to hydration calculations are professional necessities for those of us that talk and sweat under stage lights for a living.
