“My ears hurt.” “My Humanities teacher is so loud that my ears ring for half of the next class.”
I wouldn’t call this a complaint. More like, a recognition of a mildy unpleasant feeling that he could put a finger on. The big, overwhelming feeling that he could not put into words was shock. He was a month into 8th grade and still acclimating to the loudest teacher he has ever had.
His 8th grade Humanities teacher can send her voice to the back of the classroom with such force that, if you aren’t paying attention, it will bounce off that wall and hit you in the back of your head. She’s not yelling. She’s definitely not mad, or annoyed. She is in possession of a powerful instrument, and she uses it happily and unabashedly.
