Wig designers are paying for the wigs, and then the set designers are paying them back a decade later …

The recommendation letter that I wrote yesterday was in support of a wig designer. Specifically, it is for “early career designers from historically-excluded groups” paid for by Broadway designers that donate 1 week’s worth of royalties from their Broadway shows every year.

Designers’ Zakat. Tithe. Maaser.

Donate chunk of your income to make sure your world can always set itself right. Less noblesse oblige, and more the extension of the union. Designers pay in, and when they get paid well, they have the option to throw in more.
