I've always had a comfort vs. cost conflict. Years of tight-waddedness (not a word). As a movie/tv addict, I miss closeups when watching live theater. Opera glasses help. Smaller theaters are good for view and some sound, but the productions are sometimes less than ideal. However, as a teen, I think the small theater was more fun than the Met. Of course, I didn't know Hernani at all. As my mother always said, it's good to know the songs beforehand. Wandering. Sometimes it's just a matter of the type of show. The Fantastiks plays well in a small theater. Aida needs the right voices.
